ACU 2016 Prizes and Awards Ceremony

At the recent Australian Catholic University Prizes and Awards Ceremony in Brisbane, two awards of $1000 were presented by Graduate Women Queensland. The recipients, indigenous students in their last semester of study, are able to use the funds to support them while they undertake their final teaching placement.

Graduate Women Queensland have been providing these awards for the last 5 years, with the majority of winners being older women who study as mature students.

Accessing education and succeeding at university is a challenge for many. Financial burden, competing priorities, and travel from regional areas can make progress and pursuing dreams difficult. Scholarships, bursaries, faculty prizes and awards are critical to student life. They make a significant difference to a students' capacity to contribute to their communities, participate fully in university life, and excel in their chosen profession. Winner of the Rural Women's Award, Kristy McIntosh, was unable to attend the Ceremony.
